The Performance Oxford · In development

A proper shirt. For people who run hot.

We’re developing a white Oxford-inspired office shirt, taking useful ideas from modern performance clothing without making it look like sportswear.

Product development is under way. Final materials and performance are still being tested.

01The gap

Why SmartShirts

Your work shirt shouldn’t be the least comfortable thing you wear all week.

Sports clothing has changed what many of us expect from clothes in heat and movement. The office shirt has not always kept pace.

A traditional Oxford can feel heavy, hold on to moisture or pull across the body. For commuters, people who run hot and anyone with a more athletic build, that compromise can become familiar.

SmartShirts starts with a simple question: why accept less comfort just because the dress code changes?

02The shirt

The Performance Oxford

One white shirt. Six clear objectives.

The first SmartShirts product is being developed around a classic office appearance and a more demanding comfort brief. These are design goals under active development, not finished product claims.

  1. 01

    Office-ready appearance

A white Oxford-inspired shirt intended to sit naturally in a professional wardrobe.

  2. 02

    Breathability

Select materials and construction with airflow and warm working days in mind.

  3. 03

    Faster drying

Aiming to spend less time feeling damp after a commute or a crowded train.

  4. 04

    Stretch and movement

Aim for enough give when reaching, sitting and moving, without the look of training wear.

  5. 05

    A considered fit

Develop proportions intended to accommodate broader shoulders, stronger builds and larger frames.

  6. 06

    Straightforward care

Durability and practical washing considered alongside comfort and appearance.

03Our approach

Outcome first

The fibre story comes second.

We are not starting with a predetermined material and building a marketing story around it. We are starting with the experience the shirt needs to deliver.

Polyester, cotton, nylon, blends and newer options can each bring advantages and compromises. Physical prototypes will determine which combination best balances the brief.

Space and shape

Room where it matters. Shape where it helps.

A shirt should not force a choice between fitting the shoulders and chest or carrying excessive fabric through the waist.

Our fit work intends to accommodate a useful range of builds, including broader shoulders, muscular bodies and larger frames, while keeping a clean office silhouette.

Fit is personal. We are developing better starting proportions, not promising one cut that works for everyone.

05In development

Built in the open

The uncertainty is part of the work.

SmartShirts is a product-development project, not a finished shirt waiting for a campaign. We will share decisions when there is useful evidence behind them.

  1. 01

    Researching fabrics

Comparing material routes against the complete brief, not a fashionable fibre story.

  2. 02

    Evaluating construction

Looking at how weave, seams, structure and finishing affect comfort and appearance.

  3. 03

    Developing prototypes

Turning promising decisions into shirts that can be worn, washed and assessed.

  4. 04

    Testing in real conditions

Using ordinary working days, travel and movement to inform the next iteration.

06FAQ

Straight answers

What we know. And what we don’t.

When will SmartShirts launch?

There is no fixed launch date yet. We will set one when the material, fit and prototypes are ready, rather than working backwards from an arbitrary deadline.

What will the shirt be made from?

That is still being decided through research and testing. Fibre content matters, but so do weave, construction, finishing, durability, care and cost. The final specification needs to balance all of them.

Is this just a polyester shirt?

Not necessarily. We are not committed to polyester, cotton, nylon or a particular blend. We are committed to the outcome, and the prototype process will determine which route earns its place.

Will it look like sportswear?

That is precisely what we are trying to avoid. The visual brief is a proper white, Oxford-inspired office shirt. Ideas from performance clothing should improve the experience, not dominate the appearance.

Who is SmartShirts for?

For anyone who wants a professional shirt to feel less at odds with a warm commute, an active build or a long working day. We are starting with UK customers and designing with a useful range of body shapes in mind.

How much will it cost?

Pricing has not been set. The aim is premium but attainable, and the final figure will depend on the materials, construction and manufacturing route that survive development.
